Ever hear of Dead Before Dawn? You should have. Formerly known as the Half-Life 2 mod No More Room In Hell, Dead Before Dawn is a [soon-to-be] six-map campaign based off the 2004 movie remake of Dawn of the Dead. Featuring over 200 custom prop models, Campaign and Versus support, professional voice acting, and original Dawn of the Dead-inspired locations, this campaign is something to be admired. The years-long development time has obviously been well-spent, providing us with extremely-refined, polished vistas. There are a few problems, but that doesn't stop me from saying that this is flat-out the most advanced Left 4 Dead campaign released to date, even in its current beta stage.
I'm not going to bore you with a long review, because I want you to stop reading this and start downloading as soon as you possibly can. The opening is cinematic, giving it a very epic feel, and the custom soundtrack adds to the movie-like atmosphere. As for bugs, the transition from the first to second map has a crash bug. There's also a massive brush misalignment on the beginning of the third map, but the rest of the campaign is without parallel in terms of quality, enjoyment, and replay value. It's a shame the finale wasn't included, but what's there is good enough to keep you playing for a long, long time.
Like the recent Silent Fear map by Adam Sierra, Darth_Brush has added randomized elements to the campaign. Crescendos will play out differently, and you'll explore different parts of the map. It's brilliant, and it honestly makes me wonder why Left 4 Dead 2's AI Director 2.0 needed this feature.
For those "tl;dr"-ers out there, I'll sum it up with this:
Download it. Just don't punch your computer monitor in a blind fury when the security guy starts annoying the crap out of you, like I almost did. Be sure to read the ReadMe for installation details, though, as the sheer size of this campaign requires some special handling.
Readme File: CLIENT SIDE (i.e Your own pc)
-----------------------------------------------------
Extract the Dead Before Dawn folder to Steam/SteamApps/Common/left 4 dead/left4dead/addons
Start up Left 4 Dead, in the main menu open your console and type: snd_rebuildaudiocache
It will seem as if a map is loading, let it load, if it gets stuck on a full loading bar,
leave it for 5 minutes before CTRL ALT DEL out of it to close it down
If you dont know how to open the console go to options, keyboard and mouse, and enable developers console.
You can now bring the console up by pressing the tilde key (`) which is to the left of the 1 key.
KNOWN BUG - DO THIS TO AVOID IT!
--------------------
There is a known bug with a soundloop that occurs when setting zombies on fire, open the console and type this: bind g "snd_restart"
Anytime you get the soundloop bug, just tap the G key and it will stop. We apologise for this bug, but its a problem within L4D not the campaign.
SERVER SIDE

Extract the contents to your L4D folder (look at the end of the read-me), start L4D, load up Dead Before Dawn, type snd_rebuildaudiocache into the console and wait for that, then reload the map.

the "/left4dead" folder is in "<Steam Dir>/steamapps/common/Left 4 Dead/"
what do you guys think of the mod, everyone at L4Dmods is bashing it, but if its so bad, why did valve give them a custom "I hate malls" voice for francis. I'm not advertising the L4Dmods site, just saying because i saw that rule, But I still think this mod will be awesome, I'm gonna go play now.

I like the mod, so far, and the work that has been put into it really shows. One problem I have noticed thus far is that AI players don't follow very well, they kind of slag behind. I got stuck because they weren't with me when I needed to get throught this door. So, I just killed them all. Even though I was able to get through after that, I came to realize I actually needed them for the next part.
Ok, and the only other Problem I had was that when I try to leave the mall through the front door, I die instantly.
